Para se obter eficiência nas operações de armazenagem, um fator importante é estabelecer a política ótima de atribuição da localização dos itens em armazéns. Para tanto, um dos índices mais difundidos e utilizados é o cuber-per-order (COI). No entanto, observa-se que há situações em que o uso do COI pode concentrar vantagens para uma minoria de clientes. Nesse sentido, este artigo propõe verificar as consequências da utilização de índices alternativos (COIC e CIC), baseados no número de clientes que demandam cada tipo de produto (item), sobre o desempenho de um armazém em relação à utilização do COI. Conclui-se que considerar o número de clientes na determinação da política ótima de atribuição de locais aos itens armazenados proporciona uma maior vantagem competitiva, uma vez que um número maior de clientes pode ser beneficiado. Isso representa uma oportunidade de elevar o nível de serviço oferecido pelo armazém aos clientes.

An important factor to obtain efficiency of storage operations is to establish an optimal policy for storage location assignment. To this end, one of the indexes more circulated and used is the Cuber-per-Order (COI). However, it is observed that there are situations where the use of COI can concentrate advantages to a minority of clients. In this sense, this paper proposes to verify the effects on the performance of a warehouse when using alternative indexes (COIC and CIC), based on the number of clients that require each type of product (item), compared to the COI. It was possible to conclude that when the number of clients is considered to determine optimal policy for storage location assignment, the warehouse can acquire a competitive advantage, since the largest number of clients can be benefited. This represents an opportunity to raise the service level offered by the warehouse to its clients.

Day after day, the importance of a company having an efficient storage location assignment system increases. Moreover, since products have different warehouse costs and customers' requirements are also different, it is important to sort products in order to adopt strategies for inventory management that are appropriate for each product. However, adopting a policy for each product is not applicable in the real world. Therefore, companies usually categorize products into classes and thereafter adopt specific inventory management policies. Given this situation, this paper puts forward the arguments for adopting a multi-criteria method, Electre TRI, to sort products that both considers criteria relating to the characteristics of a product as to its physical location in the warehouse and the criteria that are important for inventory strategies, such as, for example, the profitability of each unit held in storage.

O trabalho evidencia a aplicabilidade da Programação Linear Multiobjetivo no planejamento da expansão de longo prazo da geração do sistema elétrico brasileiro. Para melhor viabilizar a utilização da programação linear multiobjetivo no contexto em sistemas fortemente hidrelétricos, como o do Brasil, é explorada uma abordagem gráfica e proposto um procedimento. Por meio deste, permite-se encontrar a composição ótima de um sistema hidrotérmico para atender montantes projetados de energia elétrica no futuro, a qual se beneficie, também, das hidrologias favoráveis e de maior probabilidade de ocorrência, adotando-se, todavia, proteção contra períodos de vazões reduzidas com o uso de usinas térmicas de segurança flexíveis e de forma econômica. Como resultado deste trabalho, conclui-se que a metodologia de programação linear multiobjetivo tem amplo campo de utilização no contexto do novo modelo institucional do setor elétrico brasileiro, no qual o planejamento da expansão, coordenado pelo Governo Federal, será, naturalmente, foco de naturais e até conflitantes pressões e de objetivos a se considerar.

The paper shows the application of Multiobjective Linear Programming with regard to the long-term planning of expanding the generation of electricity in Brazil. In order to apply linear multiobjective programming better in the context of powerful hydroelectric systems as has been occurring in Brazil, an approach is explored and a procedure considered which will allow the optimal composition of hydro-thermal systems to be found for supplying the electric energy requirements projected, for the future, which will benefit favorable flows and the greater probability of this occurring. However, at the same time there is a need to adopt protective measures against a period of reduced out-flow due to the use of thermo-electricity stations, for security and economic reasons. The results of this paper lead to the conclusion that the methodology of linear multiobjective programming has a wide field of application in the context of the new institutional model for the Brazilian electricity sector, in which the planning of expansion to be projected by the federal government, will, of course, be the focus of natural conflicting pressures from different agents and have multiple objectives to consider.

Ferramenta estratégica para redução dos custos e incremento da disponibilidade da planta, a Manutenção Preventiva, nos últimos anos, tem alcançado sua importância devida, com um crescimento significativo de sua aplicação nas indústrias. Apesar da existência de uma grande quantidade de modelos que tratam desta problemática, em muitas situações em que não se tem dados de falhas ou estes são pouco confiáveis e, além disso, deseja-se observar o comportamento de mais de um aspecto ao se estabelecer a periodicidade da manutenção preventiva, estes modelos fornecem resultados pouco satisfatórios. Neste contexto, este artigo traz um modelo de decisão que, fazendo uso do método multicritério PROMETHEE II e de análise Bayesiana, permite que se estabeleça a periodicidade da manutenção preventiva, observando-se o parâmetro custo e confiabilidade, além disso, permite que a ausência de dados não seja um empecilho para a estipulação destes tempos.

As a strategic tool to reduce costs and increment the availability of the plant, Preventive Maintenance has become quite popular over the last years due to the significant increase of its application in industries. Despite the great quantity of models that deal with that problem, these are less than satisfactory in many situations when failure data are inexistent or not too reliable and when the observation of the conduct of more than one aspect is desirable to establish the periodicity of Preventive Maintenance. In such context, this article offers a model of decision by making use of the multicriteria method PROMETHE II and the Bayesian analysis, which allows to establish the periodicity of the Preventive Maintenance, observing the costs and reliability parameter and also permitting the lack of data not to be an impediment in the stipulation of those timings.
